Originally my business Blog was completely SM focused, the perfect solution for separating business and personal. But 2013 has brought so many new challenges such as; renovating for the first time (aarg) taking full ownership of my business for the first time (eek) and hopefully finishing my 2 year recording project (aaah) that I thought I’d add another venture to the list.
Adding Spice Blog, is a space for me to share my creative inspirations, ideas and learnings about the things that spice up my life. Hello Blog world.
Yesterdays launch of Facebook Timeline for Fanpages has certainly got the digital world abuzz.
If you haven't seen the "Timeline" alert banner at the top of your Fanpage, don't worry you'll see it soon enough. The roll out is 30th March, so we have a couple weeks to get our marketing plans into place.
A few critical changes that markets and developers need to note are:
No more default landing page. If you have a Social Media/eMailer campaign scheduled for April, think twice. Use your new Facebook fanpage Call to Action Header wisely!
Design and App specifciations have changed from 520pix width to 810pix, that's quite a bit more to play with and it means some awesome designs are sure to be rolling out.
The new Facebook fanpage Header is keeping conversation on the Wall (Timeline) where it's supposed to be, so use your header wisely. Change it often and showcase as much as possible.
What's new on Timeline content, the ability to “pin” certain posts to the top of the Timeline can be helpful when trying to promote certain information. Similar to marking a blog post “sticky,” so that it remains at the top of a blog for a specified period of time, pinning a post to the top of Timeline allows it to precede any other content.
No more left aligned customized tabs but you can still have Apps! They are displayed at the top right corner in rectangular boxes above the fold. You can only have 1 or 2 at any given time so choose carefully.
Facebook Ads are your only driver to the Fanpage without default landing tabs, so if you haven't already, now's the time to launch Facebook Advertising.
Brands can finally Direct Message fans, VIP marketing here we come!
You can finally request FB page name change, so if you've stopped your Facebook campaign due to an old campaign name, now you can launch a new one with a new name.
